Friends of the IU School of Nursing:

With the start of a new semester, a focus on nursing education seems appropriate. Since 2006, the IU School of Nursing has been recognized by the National League for Nursing Education for excellence in nursing education. This is a testament to our nationally recognized faculty. Our alumni embraced and enhanced that education and continue to take it to new heights in practice. I am continuously delighted, but never surprised, to hear the amazing stories of leadership and patient advocacy from our alumni.

In this issue, you’ll meet two-time alumna Savannah Langbehn, MSN, RN, who just finished her MSN in nursing education and teaches at the School of Nursing, current MSN in education student Dayton Livingston, BSN, RN, CMGT-BC, and emerita faculty member, Rose Mays, PhD, RN. Dr. Mays established the Rose M. Mays Excellence in Teaching Diversity Fund at the IU School of Nursing in 2001 to support faculty as they develop diversity-related curricula.

I hope you enjoy reading the various examples of excellence in nursing education. I’m sure you’ll see yourselves reflected here.
