This past week, faculty from the IU School of Nursing demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to clinical education by implementing the Harm Prevention Partners Program.
The Harm Prevention Partners Program, an innovative clinical education model, is designed to simultaneously enhance nursing education and improve patient outcomes. Developed by faculty and staff at the Indiana University School of Nursing, the Harm Prevention Partners Program integrates team-based care, evidence-based practices, and cutting-edge technology in the teaching-learning model to promote harm prevention in healthcare settings.
Efforts resulted in meaningful contributions to patient care, showcasing the power of collaboration and student engagement in clinical practice. The outcomes from this past week's implementation were remarkable:
- 179 patients received care through 17 clinical sections.
- Students delivered 154 interventions to prevent pressure ulcers, 334 interventions to reduce falls, and 548 interventions to prevent infections.
- A total of 1,036 interventions were delivered by our IU School of Nursing students directly targeting these nurse-sensitive quality indicators to improve patient outcomes.
This program not only highlights the critical role of faculty in advancing student learning but also underscores the positive impact that clinical education can have on the communities we serve. Thank you to all involved for your dedication and leadership in making the Harm Prevention Partners Program a success!
