Why did you choose your team name?
Our team is called the "IUSON Pulse Racers." We wanted a name that reflects both our spirit and our identity as a group of dedicated male nursing students. It adds a fun, modern twist, representing how we see ourselves—young, motivated, and yes, we’ll admit it, we take pride in looking sharp, too! Our name showcases our commitment to excellence in both our nursing careers and personal lives, blending professionalism with a little flair.
Tell us about your team!
The IUSON Pulse Racers are all about passion, hard work, and balance. We are deeply invested in our studies at one of the top nursing schools, where we’re constantly learning and developing our skills to provide the best care possible to our future patients. Beyond the classroom, we share a collective passion for fitness. Staying active and healthy is a core value for us—whether it's lifting weights, running, or finding time to de-stress through exercise, we push each other to stay on top of our game.
We’re also driven by the desire to make a difference in healthcare, especially as male nurses in a field that is still predominantly female. We want to show that men belong in this profession and can thrive. Our shared goal is to break stereotypes while striving for excellence, supporting one another every step of the way.
Why did you choose to row in this year’s race?
This year, we chose rowing as a symbol of our teamwork and determination to represent the IU School of Nursing. The school has given so much to us, providing invaluable support, top-notch faculty, and endless opportunities to grow as students and individuals. Competing in this race is our way of giving back, showing our appreciation, and raising awareness about the power and potential of nursing students.
Rowing also perfectly mirrors the values we hold—discipline, coordination, and endurance. Each stroke we take represents our unity, as we pull together toward a shared goal: bringing home the trophy for IU School of Nursing! We want to show that just like in nursing, success comes from working together and lifting each other up."
