IUSON Fort Wayne is on the move

On behalf of our students, faculty and staff, I am pleased to welcome you to Indiana University School of Nursing, Fort Wayne campus formally known as the Indiana–Purdue Fort Wayne, Department of Nursing. The IU Fort Wayne campus is nestled in the second largest city in the state of Indiana, which is undergoing tremendous urban growth. Recently, Fort Wayne was named the most “affordable city” and “best place to retire” in the U.S.

The IU School of Nursing on the Fort Wayne campus is the largest school of the IUFW health science program. The IUSON-FW is on the move. We have plans to grow our programs to ensure we continue to prepare an excellent workforce for the Fort Wayne area and beyond.

Our faculty are world class national leaders in nursing who are known for using innovative learning strategies and are deeply embedded in the community. The school manages a Title X clinic and has over 30 full- and part-time faculty who are outstanding educators, scholars, and clinicians. The school educates a diverse group undergraduate students through a bachelor's program that offers three tracks: traditional, accelerated second degree, and RN to BSN Degree Completion Program. IUFW has over a dozen students enrolled in the growing online RN to BSN program. We have outstanding knowledgeable academic advisors who are responsible for recruiting outstanding students and implementing strategies for successful matriculation. Finally, I am so proud of our administrative staff and our coordinators of simulation technology and clinical performance who are integral to the operations of the school.

The school received state funding to renovate the Simulation Center with “State of the Art” acquisition of EchoMasks, custom-made life-like masks created by advanced 3D printing. These EchoMasks, that simulate different ages, races, and sexes, are intended for use on the manikin to enhance emotional learning modality for IU Fort Wayne nursing students.

The demand for our nursing program is growing. Nursing ranks #1 as a trusted health profession and attending IUSON FW will ensure your readiness to join the ranks of over 22,500 IU nurses nationwide.
