Honoring top nursing students for a century
Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing
Sigma Nursing was founded in 1922 by six students at the IU School of Nursing. Today this prestigious honor society, which is headquartered in Indianapolis, has more than 135,000 active members in over 500 chapters worldwide, including IU’s Alpha Chapter. Its mission is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.

If you’re an undergraduate or graduate nursing student at the IU School of Nursing, you can apply for Sigma membership through the Alpha Chapter. You must meet the Alpha Chapter’s membership criteria in order to be eligible to apply.
