Nurses are a tight-knit group of professionals and that starts in nursing school. Only about eighty students are admitted to the nursing program at IUB each year, so you’re sure to know all of your classmates by name and know many of them for years to come.

While Bloomington’s nursing classes might be relatively small, the IU School of Nursing is one of the largest nursing programs in Indiana. You’ll have access to the best of everything at IUB: small class sizes, support and opportunities from a large nursing school, and all of the community assets Bloomington has to offer.

The School of Nursing is the perfect environment for starting your career as a nurse-researcher—and you don’t have to be a graduate student to get involved. In the last year of our BSN program, high-achieving undergraduates have the opportunity to work on an honors research project with the support of a faculty mentor.

Learn and share the gift of nursing around the world

Enrich your nursing education by participating in one of the School of Nursing’s study abroad opportunities, where you’ll gain insight into the world’s diverse health care systems and learn how nursing is practiced in other countries and cultures. You can also choose from the hundreds of study abroad programs available to all IU students.

Learn by doing with life-like simulations

There are two interactive learning facilities at IUB where you’ll get hands-on experience that will prepare you to work with patients. You’ll learn the basic clinical skills of the nursing profession in the 22-bed Nursing Learning Resource Center, which provides a realistic controlled hospital learning environment. Then, put those skills into action in the Inter-Professional Simulation Center.

Bloomington has a vibe like no other place in Indiana. There are dozens of places to live on and off campus, state-of-the-art athletics and recreation, and so much going on in Bloomington you'll always have something to do when you want.

Stay fit mentally and physically

Club spots, intramural sports, and traditional athletics like IU Basketball and IU Football surround campus in this sports-loving state. You can find teams to play on and lots of ways to stay in shape on your own at IUB.
