Mini University participants will “Meet the Manikins” at the IU Bloomington Inter-Professional Simulation Center this summer. The IU School of Nursing and IU School of Medicine will present this session on high-fidelity simulation as part of the IU Alumni Association’s 2017 Mini University program.
The use of simulation at the IU School of Nursing has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. Although nurse educators still use static manikins to practice blood draws and other techniques, the IU Bloomington Inter-Professional Simulation Center has computer-operated, high-fidelity manikins that sweat, talk, breathe, bleed and respond to medications. The manikins include an adult that can be male or female, a female that can give birth, a newborn, and a child. Photographs courtesy of IU Alumni Association.
