Find scholarships and fellowships to fund your education

If you are an incoming or current, undergraduate or graduate IU School of Nursing student, you may apply for one of our scholarships by submitting an application and required essay.

For financial need scholarships we request a completed FAFSA. Award amounts range from $500 to $10,000 per year, per scholarship. Applications for nursing specific scholarships are open from December 1 to March 31, unless otherwise noted in the scholarship portal.

How to apply for scholarships

  1. Sign in to the scholarship portal using your IU username and passphrase.
  2. Complete the general scholarship application to be automatically considered for all the scholarship opportunities you’re eligible for.
  3. Find the opportunities you’re looking for by performing a search with keyword nursing or the specific name of the scholarship.
  4. Complete any additional application materials that may be necessary.

Harriett Becker Scholarship

The Harriett Becker Scholarship was established in 2002 by an estate gift from Harriett R. Becker, a 1948 graduate of IU School of Nursing.

Harry C. Schumacher and Stella O'Brien Schumacher Nursing Scholarship

The Harry C. Schumacher and Stella O'Brien Schumacher Nursing Scholarship was established in 1995 by Melba Schumacher in memory of her father and mother.

Helene Fuld Health Trust Nursing Scholarship Fund

The Helene Fuld Health Trust Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in 2014 through a grant with the Helene Fuld Health Trust and is exclusively used to financially assist students in the Accelerated Second Degree BSN program at IU Indianapolis.

Howard and Lucille Scammahorn Nursing Scholarship

The Howard and Lucille Scammahorn Nursing Scholarship was established by Lucretia Scammahorn to honor the memory of her parents. In doing so, Lucretia hopes to address the current (and future) nursing shortage by providing financial aid to individuals who wish to become nurses. This scholarship supports students pursuing a second degree in the Accelerated Second Degree track at IU Indianapolis.

IACNS Dayhoff Clinical Nurse Specialist Fellowship

The IACNS Dayhoff Clinical Nurse Specialist Fellowship was established to commemorate the impact of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) on the nursing profession and to encourage future CNS students. IACNS is the Indiana Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists.

  • Students pursuing Clinical Nurse Specialist degrees or students who are currently a CNS enrolled in a doctoral program
  • Preference will be given to students who have completed at least one semester in the program
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours per semester
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicants must include an essay describing how they demonstrate clinical leadership in advancing the practice of nursing

Irene R. and Nathaniel M. Aycock Scholarship

The Irene R. and Nathaniel M. Aycock Scholarship was established in 2000 through a gift from the Irene R. and Nathaniel M. Aycock Foundation, directed by the Trustee Sally Reichert Tate (BSN '63) in memory of her aunt, Irene Reichert Aycock, to support talented doctoral nursing students.

  • Preference will be given to applicants who received their baccalaureate or master's degree from the school at IU Indianapolis

IU Indianapolis Indiana Center for Nursing Scholarship

The Indiana Center for Nursing is a not-for-profit member organization that endeavors to secure the future of Indiana's licensed nursing workforce by preparing them to meet the healthcare needs of Indiana's citizens. The Indiana Center for Nursing Scholarship was established to ease the financial burden of nursing students to help prepare them to meet the healthcare needs of Indiana's citizens.

  • Graduate nursing student (full-time or part-time)
  • Undergraduate full-time nursing student (full-time enrolled in 12 credit hours or more)
  • IU Indianapolis campus only
  • Indiana resident
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrates a commitment to work in nursing in the state of Indiana upon graduation
