Find scholarships and fellowships to fund your education

If you are an incoming or current, undergraduate or graduate IU School of Nursing student, you may apply for one of our scholarships by submitting an application and required essay. Scholarship applications are open from December 1 to March 1. During the open period, you can search the scholarships portal using the keyword “nursing” for available scholarships.

For financial need scholarships, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. Deadline to submit your FAFSA can be found at the same link.

Award amounts range from $500 to $10,000 per year, per scholarship.

How to apply for scholarships

  1. Sign in to the scholarship portal using your IU username and passphrase.
  2. Complete the general scholarship application to be automatically considered for all the scholarship opportunities you’re eligible for.
  3. Find the opportunities you’re looking for by performing a search with keyword nursing or the specific name of the scholarship.
  4. Complete any additional application materials that may be necessary.

Katherine Christ Endowed Scholarship for Nursing Students at IUFW

The Katherine Christ Endowed Scholarship for Nursing Students at IUFW was established in memory of Katherine Christ. Katherine emigrated from Germany when she was 17 years of age. She studied nursing but as was the custom at the time, she had to stop when children came along. Katherine was a marvelous cook and dedicated to her family. She believed in caring for others and thus created a legacy of nurses with daughters, a granddaughter and two nieces all choosing to serve in this profession.

Kennedy-Huffman Nursing Scholarship

The Kennedy-Huffman Nursing Scholarship was established in 1960 by Alberta M. Huffman, a friend of IU School of Nursing.

Kristen Pettijohn Graduate Nursing Scholarship

The Kristen Pettijohn Graduate Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of Kristen Pettijohn by her friends, classmates, and family. The scholarship was created as a tribute to Kristen's passion for nursing, her interest in education, and her compassion for those in need of healthcare.

L. Grace Anderson Scholarship

The L. Grace Anderson Scholarship was established in 1978 by an estate gift from L. Grace Anderson. Miss L. Grace Anderson was a Latin and English teacher at Seymour High School and Shields High School. She taught for 45 years with 38 of those being in the Seymour school system. Miss Anderson achieved the amazing record of 42 years of perfect attendance.

Leah Jacobson Nursing Scholarship

The Leah Jacobson Nursing Scholarship was established to honor Leah Jacobson, proud alumna of the IU School of Nursing, Class of 1938. Leah Jacobson lived to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 10, 2017.

Leona Adam/Frances Orgain Nursing Endowment Fund

Leona Meyer Shedd Scholarship

The Leona Meyer Shedd Scholarship was established in 1970 by Gilbert A. Shedd in honor of Leona Meyer Shedd.

Lillian Gatlin Stokes Nursing Scholarship

The Lillian Gatlin Stokes Nursing Scholarship was established by Lilian Gatlin Stokes, a proud alumna of IU School of Nursing. Lillian obtained her MSN in 1969 and PhD in 1998. She was an esteemed Emerita Faculty member and recognized as one of the Top 100 Alumni Legacy Leaders in 2014 during IU School of Nursing's 100th anniversary celebration. Her 40-year history at IU School of Nursing involved serving as a teacher, administrator, and advocate for her students.

 

Lois Latshaw Nursing Scholarship

The Lois Latshaw Nursing Scholarship was established in 1999 by Lois Latshaw, Master's of Nursing Education 1962, to acknowledge the excellent nursing education she received at the School of Nursing and to enable others to obtain an excellent nursing education.

Lura Moss Dolan, BSN RN Nursing Scholarship

The Lura Moss Dolan, BSN RN Nursing Scholarship was established in honor of Lura Moss Dolan by her husband, Dennis, and son, D. Matthew, Dolan, MSN, CRNA, APRN. Lura was a proud alumna from the BSN Class of 1967 and was a deeply compassionate and dedicated nurse. This scholarship honors Lura and the nursing profession.
