Indiana University School of Nursing Bloomington (IUSON BL) plans to increase enrollments in our traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program from 80 to 120 students starting in the fall 2023 semester.
Entry into our traditional BSN program is highly competitive, with only 80 applicants accepted for enrollment each year. Starting in the fall of 2023, IUSON BL plans to admit 120 traditional BSN students into the program.
“Our traditional BSN program receives more applications than we have spots available,” says Dr. Wendy Trueblood Miller, IUSON BL’s associate dean. “Under our current enrollment structure, there were times when we had to turn away highly qualified pre-nursing students, students who then went elsewhere to pursue their nursing degrees or did not pursue nursing at all.”

IUSON BL’s plans to grow enrollments began nearly two years ago and are driven, in large part, by the expanded, state-of-the-art classroom and clinical facilities offered by IU’s new Regional Academic Health Center and adjacent Health Sciences Building.
“Indiana University and the IU School of Nursing are very much aware of the support that we have been given over the years by the Bloomington community. The new Regional Academic Health Center and Health Sciences Building—and the increased number of highly prepared nurses that we can now send out into the community—are just the beginning of our way of giving back,” says Trueblood Miller.
