Recognition Ceremony Honors Nursing Graduates
No look back at the 2017 – 2018 school year would be complete without celebrating the year’s most memorable day: Our May 5th Recognition Ceremony.
There are so many memories from that day: Dr. Sharon Gates’ poignant graduation address reminding our new graduates that a nurse must be a unique combination of both brains and heart, providing the highest quality care to patients at some of life’s most difficult moments. The calling of the names and recognition of our graduates by Dr. Kim Decker. The presentation of the class gift (new “skin” for the lifelike synthetic arm for one of the NLRC’s manikins) by senior class officers Bridget Protsman and Katelyn Nordhoff. And class spokesperson Ellen Voskoboynik’s funny and touching remarks about the trials and tribulations – and, ultimately, the feeling of accomplishment – upon becoming an IU nurse.
Seventy-four students were recognized that day: 59 from the traditional BSN program and 15 RN to BSN students. To each of them we say: Thank you for your hard work and dedication, your boundless optimism, and for many happy memories. You take with you our sincere best wishes for your continued success!
