Meet Dr. Toni Tipton
Toni Tipton, CNM, WHNP-BC is a Board-Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Nurse Midwife. She works as the APRN Team Lead at Five Rivers Health Centers, a federally qualified health care center in Dayton, OH, where she helped to start the award-winning low birth weight (LBW) project, Compassionate and Loving Maternity, or CALM program. She was recently featured in the documentary American Delivery about the maternal health crisis in the United States, which will premiere on PBS later this year.
Toni is the co-founder of Uzima Rejuvenation Station, a self-care hub in West Chester, Ohio. She was recently awarded a $400,000 grant from the Bethesda Foundation, Bi3, to expand her CALM LBW project to Butler County which has some of the worst black infant mortality rates in Ohio.
She has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, an associate degree in nursing, and a dual master’s degree. She has worked as an Advanced Practice nurse for 10 years and a Registered Nurse for 16 years. She has mainly worked in critical care nursing, including in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department. She is married with five children and co-founded with her husband, Father Your Hood, a non-profit fatherhood initiative.
