Jane von Gaudecker, Ph.D., RN, and associate professor at the Indiana University School of Nursing, has received a $2.4 million grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the Fogarty International Center. The grant will fund a five-year study on “Bridging the Treatment Gap by Expanding Access to Care for People with Epilepsy in Kenya (BEACON).”

From navigating the language barrier to learning about a new culture, Charlotte Carlley’s work experience in Saudi Arabia made a lasting impression. Years after her retirement from IU School of Nursing, Dr. Carlley established a fund for continuing nursing student education in global health.

More than 20 years ago, Amie Bockstahler, MSN ‘11, RN, made her first medical mission trip to Guatemala. Today, she’s a missionary nurse living in Guatemala City providing support to U.S. surgical teams that volunteer their time to perform surgeries for Guatemalan children.
