Biography
After earning her BSN from Indiana State University, Dr. Barnes began her nursing career working in long-term care administration. She transitioned into critical care nursing with a passion for cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery care. Demonstrating her commitment to critical care nursing, Dr. Barnes earned critical care certification, CCRN. Dr. Barnes began working as a clinical educator within the acute and critical care environment after obtaining her MSN in 2012. Dr. Barnes received her PhD from Indiana State University; the topic of her dissertation is curriculum, instruction, and media technology, with a focus on simulation within the nursing curriculum. She earned her healthcare simulation educator certification, CHSE because much of her research focuses on the use of simulation to support application of clinical judgment.
