PhD, RN, CNS, NEA-BC, FAAN

Dear Friends,

Students and student success are a priority for our faculty, staff, and academic programs at IU School of Nursing. This fall we initiated an exciting new admissions process across all three of our campuses (Bloomington, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis) for a pilot group of BSN applicants.

Indiana University students complete pre-nursing courses during their freshman year, apply to the program, and then begin nursing studies as sophomores. The new admission process provides qualified students a direct path to the nursing program as freshmen.

For students, direct admission is a popular option.  Many of our incoming high school students have already earned college credits, which impacts the courses they will take as freshmen. Direct admission enables us to be competitive in the marketplace, attracting students we may have once lost to programs that offer direct admission.

Faculty will review direct admission applications and inform students of admission decisions in March 2024. If you’d like to learn more, visit https://nursing.iu.edu/admissions/direct-admit.html.

Helen Pyles: Honoring nurses through philanthropy

Helen Pyles will be the first to tell you about the impact nurses have made in her life and the lives of others. With that service in mind, she established a nursing scholarship to honor nurses, especially those with ties to the retirement home where she lives.
