Find scholarships and fellowships to fund your education

If you are an incoming or current, undergraduate or graduate IU School of Nursing student, you may apply for one of our scholarships by submitting an application and required essay. Scholarship applications are open from December 1 to March 1. During the open period, you can search the scholarships portal using the keyword “nursing” for available scholarships.

For financial need scholarships, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. Deadline to submit your FAFSA can be found at the same link.

Award amounts range from $500 to $10,000 per year, per scholarship.

How to apply for scholarships

  1. Sign in to the scholarship portal using your IU username and passphrase.
  2. Complete the general scholarship application to be automatically considered for all the scholarship opportunities you’re eligible for.
  3. Find the opportunities you’re looking for by performing a search with keyword nursing or the specific name of the scholarship.
  4. Complete any additional application materials that may be necessary.

Shirley Crutchfield Mehleck Scholarship

The Shirley Crutchfield Mehleck Scholarship was established in 1998 by an estate gift from Shirley Crutchfield Mehleck from the School of Nursing Class of 1953.

  • Undergraduate nursing student
  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education's criteria for need-based federal financial aid
  • Any IU campus
  • Beginning student - for use in the 1st year in the nursing school

Stephanie C. Keenan Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing at IUFW

Fort Wayne

The Stephanie C. Keenan Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing at IUFW was established to honor and memorialize Stephanie C. Keenan and her love for nursing. Stephanie was dedicated to the profession of nursing. She earned her associate and baccalaureate degrees in nursing from IUPUFW and numerous academic honors. Stephanie's professional career included working as a staff nurse in a nursing home and acute care hospital. While she was a graduate student she worked as a laboratory assistant in the Nursing Simulation and Skills Lab at IUSON Fort Wayne. Stephanie was well known for her warm compassion, enthusiasm, and nursing professionalism.

Susan Kay Nevins Scholarship

The Susan Kay Nevins Scholarship Fund was established in 1987 by Mr. and Mrs. Leon Nevins in honor of Susan Kay Nevins who received her associates degree in nursing in 1985. The Susan Kay Nevins Scholarship Fund benefits:

    • Nursing undergraduate or graduate student
    • Any campus
    • Recipient shall exhibit the qualities of caring and sharing of self that were demonstrated so well by Susan Kay Nevins.

Tri Chi Nursing Scholarship

The Tri Chi Nursing Scholarship was established by the members of the Tri Chi Sorority to link the Tri Chi Sorority's name in perpetuity with Indiana University. This scholarship supports an Indiana resident nursing student.
