In the last week of October, IUSON hosted its 29th annual Faculty & Staff Recognition Ceremony, with this year’s ceremony being held via Zoom. The theme for this year’s ceremony was ‘The Roaring 20s’ and featured an online costume contest where faculty and staff from the IUSON Core schools were encouraged to wear their best Prohibition-era outfits and hats.
The Nursing News salutes the following outstanding members of our faculty and staff for being recognized at the ceremony.
Assistant Professor Dr. Pei-Shiun Chang was selected for the Core Values Faculty Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize a faculty member who best displays the core values of the IU School of Nursing: Respect, Responsibility, Trust, and Dialogue.
Associate Professor Dr. Amy Hagedorn Wonder received the Lois Meier Excellence in Teaching Award. This award supports Dr. Wonder in securing the training, tools, and resources she needs to achieve developmental or outcome goals related to her teaching and research activities. The award also supports travel expenses related to dissemination of curricular innovation impacting student learning.
Dr. Wonder was also recognized for her 10 years of service to IUSON.
Strategic Marketing and Communications Manager John Simmons was awarded the Dean’s Staff Award for Innovation. This award was created to recognize a staff member for his/her exemplary efforts in advancing the school-wide adoption of innovation. Mr. Simmons received this award in recognition of his work on our RN-to-BSN online pilot, with key features of the pilot having been adopted by IUSON’s 9-campus RN to BSN Online Degree Completion Option Consortium.
Inter-professional Simulation Center Coordinator Sally Gindling was recognized for her accomplishments in managing our SIM Center by being awarded the Marilyn J. Pesci Staff Council Recognition Award. This award recognizes a staff member who best represents, over a period of time (minimum of 5 years), the professional image of the IU School of Nursing.
Director of Student Services and Advising Debbie Hrisomalos was recognized for her 15 years of service to the IU School of Nursing. In early November, IUSON BL Associate Dean Mary Lynn Davis-Ajami and Director of Operations April Sauer paid a surprise visit to Debbie to present her with her Years of Service pin and a decorative plant.
To say that the IUSON BL simply could not function without Debbie would be an understatement! Thank you, Debbie, for your years of service to our school.
