Find scholarships and fellowships to fund your education

If you are an incoming or current, undergraduate or graduate IU School of Nursing student, you may apply for one of our scholarships by submitting an application and required essay.

For financial need scholarships we request a completed FAFSA. Award amounts range from $500 to $10,000 per year, per scholarship. Applications for nursing specific scholarships are open from December 1 to March 31, unless otherwise noted in the scholarship portal.

How to apply for scholarships

  1. Sign in to the scholarship portal using your IU username and passphrase.
  2. Complete the general scholarship application to be automatically considered for all the scholarship opportunities you’re eligible for.
  3. Find the opportunities you’re looking for by performing a search with keyword nursing or the specific name of the scholarship.
  4. Complete any additional application materials that may be necessary.

Class of 1960 BSN Nursing Scholarship

Class of 1963 Nursing Scholarship

The Class of 1963 Nursing Scholarship was created to commemorate IUSON Class of 1963's 50th reunion celebrated in 2013.

  • Must have reached a point in education that student is working with patients; this would be nursing semesters Sophomore (2nd semester - 200 level courses), Junior (300 level courses), or Senior (400 level courses)

Class of 1966 Scholarship in Nursing Education

The Class of 1966 Scholarship in Nursing Education was established to commemorate their 50th reunion in 2016. The Class of 1966 appreciates the excellent education they received, the friendships formed, and the special memories they have from their time spent as a student at the school. The Class of 1966 is aware of the nursing faculty shortage and wishes to ensure that there are well-prepared faculty available in the future to teach nurses how to meet the diverse healthcare needs of patients and their families.

Claudia A. Dille Nursing Scholarship

The Claudia A. Dille Nursing Scholarship Fund was established by Claudia Dille, MSN, BSN, RN. Claudia was able to complete her baccalaureate in nursing due to a scholarship that was awarded to her; she wants to provide a similar opportunity to a student in IU School of Nursing. Claudia is a proud alumna earning her MSN with a focus on adults with bio dissonance in 1978. Claudia has also served the school as a faculty member. She considers herself a lifelong learner and has always felt it was important for others to have the opportunity to continue learning.

Dagna Simpson Nursing Scholarship

The Dagna Simpson Nursing Scholarship was established in 2004 by an estate gift from Dagna Simpson, PhD, MA (English), Indiana University. Dagna's career was in teaching English, but she believed strongly in education and wished to make a difference at a time of nursing shortage.

Diane Groff Memorial Scholarship

The Diane Groff Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by the family and friends of Diane Groff.

Dianne McCabe Nursing Scholarship

The Dianne McCabe Nursing Scholarship was established by Diane's family and friends in her memory and in celebration of her excellence in clinical nursing, her dedication to the nursing profession, and her tireless advocacy for women's health. Diane obtained her undergraduate degree from IU School of Nursing.

  • Preference given to applicants displaying highest character
  • Non-traditional nurse returning to further their education
  • Employees with Indiana University Health. Applicant must upload employment verification (This can be in the form of a memo on IU Health letterhead with supervisor's signature and phone number)

Donald & Sonna Merk RISE Scholarship

The Donald and Sonna Merk RISE Scholarship was established to support undergraduate nursing students on the IU Indianapolis campus. Donald and Sonna Merk are both graduates of Indiana University. Don (School of Business, 1966) and Sonna (School of Nursing, BSN 1970, MSN 1981, and PhD 2000). The Merks value education and are committed to providing financial assistance to students. RISE - Research, International, Service Learning, and Experiential Learning

Dotaline E. Allen Scholarship

The Dotaline E. Allen Scholarship was established in 1966 by multiple donors in honor of Dr. Dotaline E. Allen, Director of the Division of Nursing Education at Indiana University, from 1950 to 1965.

Dr. Cheryl A. Bean Graduate Nursing Scholarship

The Dr. Cheryl A. Bean Graduate Nursing Scholarship was established in tribute to Dr. Bean's dedication to the nursing profession, her students, and IU School of Nursing where she served as a faculty member. This scholarship was created in Dr. Bean's memory by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Walter Neiser.
