2025 Top 100: Taylor Spice

Saturday, April 05, 2025

Taylor Spice, in a black blazer and striped blouse, smiles at the camera. On the right, a panel displays a quote from Taylor about taking on leadership roles at IU Indianapolis to impact her community. Below is the Indiana University School of Nursing logo.

Each year, IU Indianapolis honors 100 outstanding undergraduate students who demonstrate excellence in three categories—academic excellence, campus leadership, and community engagement. These Top 100 Jags represent everything that makes IU Indianapolis exceptional.

Taylor Spice, a BSN student who will graduate in May 2025, has been chosen as one of IU Indianapolis' Top 100 students for 2025. Below, learn more about Taylor’s journey at the IU School of Nursing at Indianapolis and the organizations and groups she's chosen to volunteer with during her time at IU Indianapolis.

What has been your favorite or most memorable class or educational opportunity while studying at the IU School of Nursing? Why?

One of my favorite or most memorable educational opportunities while studying at the IU School of Nursing was my study abroad trip to Spain to learn about global healthcare. I was grateful to be able to expand my knowledge and understand healthcare on a global scale and grow in my worldview.

What activities or organizations are you involved in, and why did you choose these groups?

The activities and organizations I have been involved in are the Student Nurse Association (SNA), Indiana Association of Nursing Students (IANS), and IU Indianapolis Bridges. I chose these groups because I love being involved on campus and getting to impact students and peers. Also, I really am passionate about being a nurse student and making sure to provide professional and personal development opportunities.

Why was it important to you to take on extra activities and leadership roles while studying at IU Indianapolis and the IU School of Nursing?

It was important for me to take on extra activities and leadership roles while studying at IU Indianapolis and the IU School of Nursing because I wanted to truly know and impact the community around me. I have had a lot of people throughout my time at IU Indianapolis pour into me, so I wanted to give back. Also, I really wanted to be more connected to those around me!

Who has inspired you during your nursing school journey?

My dad and my stepmom have inspired me during my nursing school journey because both have worked so hard their entire lives to provide for our family. This has truly inspired me to work hard and make sure that all the work I do has a greater impact than just me.

What are your plans after completing your Bachelor of Science in Nursing?

My plans following the completion of my Bachelor of Science in Nursing is to work at Riley Hospital for Children in the Simon Family Tower NICU.

What does the recognition of being a Top 100 student mean to you?

Being recognized as a Top 100 student means so much to me. It’s a reflection of the hard work and dedication I’ve poured into my education and professional growth. It’s a privilege to now be part of such a distinguished group of students and alumni who share values of leadership, service, and academic excellence. This recognition motivates me to continue making a positive impact both in my future nursing profession and in my community.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I first want to recognize that I was only able to get Top 100 due to my faith in God and the support of my family and friends. Being named a Top 100 student is such an honor to be identified as someone who has made an impact on a campus that has impacted me so greatly. I am truly blessed and grateful for this award and all that it means!
