Biography
Debra Smith, MSN, RN, CHPN, is a Lecturer in the IU School of Nursing at Bloomington. Deb’s research and scholarship interests include Nursing Informatics, Hospice Theory and Care, and Quality Measuring. Her teaching expertise includes nursing fundamentals, as well as medical surgical, leadership, and community health clinicals. Deb has continued a strong interest in nursing informatics and brings informatics theory to the fore in the classroom and in clinical experiences. Informatics touches all aspects of an individual’s healthcare experience and embracing this technology can only benefit the nursing profession. Hospice and palliative care holds a special place in Deb’s heart and she continues to hold a position with IU Health Hospice monitoring quality measures and other staff support incentives. Deb is certified in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing.
