Mid-Career or Senior Tenure Track Faculty ( #100708-2023 )

Indianapolis

Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) seeks qualified applicants for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of associate or full professor. We invite applications who have a progressive, sustained, and well-funded program of research. IUSON is one of the largest nursing programs in Indiana that offers a full range of academic programs from BSN to DNP and PhD. IUSON is looking for applicants to join our world-class faculty who will contribute to our commitment to engage the city, state, nation, and beyond through teaching, research, and service, in consideration of the rich diversity of our campus and community.

Overall, the candidate’s responsibilities include contributing to IUSON’s research, teaching, and service missions.

  1. The candidate is expected to have and to continually develop an independent program of research that aligns with IUSON’s research areas of excellence as well as federal funding priorities. The candidate must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, vigorous research agenda that has been continually securing competitive, external funding. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with interdisciplinary teams of interprofessional researchers across clinical and academic settings.
  2. The candidate is expected to engage in high-quality teaching and mentoring. The candidate will leverage diverse teaching strategies to create inclusive learning spaces as well as to prepare our graduates to enter and lead in an increasingly complex world. The candidate will serve as a mentor and a role model for students as well as faculty colleagues.
  3. The candidate is expected to actively participate in service at the school, campus, community, and professional levels.
Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD is required. While a PhD in Nursing Science is preferred, candidates who have earned a PhD in a related field (e.g. public health, health sciences, psychology, sociology) will be considered.
  • A successful history of external funding (e.g., NIH, HRSA, NLN, PCORI) is strongly preferred.
  • The applicant’s research program should align with at least one of IUSON’s five research areas of excellence. Within an organizing context of health equity, those research areas of excellence are: 1) Prevention and Health Promotion, 2) Health and Community Systems, 3) Chronic Condition Management and Quality of Life, and 4) Serious Illness Support, and 5) Nursing Education Science. The applicant’s materials should display evidence of scholarly productivity in their identified focused area of inquiry.

Appointment to academic rank and salary are dependent on evidence of scholarly, teaching, and service achievements.

IUSON is committed to being a welcoming institution that reflects and enacts the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We seek applicants whose research, teaching, and service efforts contribute to diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments for our students, staff, and faculty.

Open positions are available for August 2024 start dates. Applications received by February 1, 2024, will be given priority. Letter of application, curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching, diversity statement, and contact list with three references must be submitted on-line to: must be submitted online.
