Associate Dean, Fort Wayne campus School of Nursing ( #FW22002 )

Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Associate Dean at the Fort Wayne campus. The Associate Dean is responsible for the administration, teaching, and scholarship activities of the IU School of Nursing Fort Wayne (IUSON FW), providing leadership to its faculty, staff, and students. The Associate Dean will collaborate with leaders across the IUSON and Indiana University Fort Wayne (IUFW). The Associate Dean will be central to the advancement of the IUSON’s excellence of the IUFW Health Sciences Campus. The IUFW Health Sciences Campus reflects the vision of the partnership between Indiana University and Indiana University Health to be a global leader in health science education, research, and innovation to promote human health and well-being.

The Associate Dean will provide strategic and administrative direction, vision, and leadership to the School on the Fort Wayne campus. Fostering an atmosphere of open and clear communication, the Associate Dean will engage on leadership teams and boards necessary to facilitate the mission of the school. The Associate Dean assigns faculty responsibilities according to established standards; promotes quality education and scholarship; coordinates course offerings on the campus; prepares and administers program budget; seeks and applies for internal/external funding; and provides information for continued program planning, maintenance, growth, and development. The Associate Dean evaluates faculty and staff performance. Dialoging with many external constituents, the Associate Dean leads the fulfillment of the mission and vision of the school, including collaboration with the school’s development director, alumni, and community leaders. As a member of the faculty, the Associate Dean maintains personal academic faculty obligations in teaching, research, and service associated with rank. The Associate Dean is a member of the Executive Team of the Core school, and participates in other university, school and campus boards, committees and faculty governance as elected or appointed.

Qualified applicants must hold an earned doctorate in nursing or a doctorate in a related field with a graduate degree in nursing. Teaching experience in higher education with a record of teaching excellence, innovation and creativity, a record of scholarly achievement, and be licensed or eligible for Indiana RN licensure. Administrative experience and demonstrated excellence in leadership and interpersonal skills are also required. The successful applicant will have a record of scholarship, including a history of success in obtaining external grants, suitable for a senior tenure-track position and appointment as a tenured associate or full professor. Experience with state and national nursing education accreditation standards and approval processes are preferred.
